SCULPTURES@SISSONSGALLERY.CO.UK (CLICK ON PICTURES FOR MORE DETAILS) Rudge Family Sculptures Lawson E Rudge heads his own
‘dynasty’ of Potters; his elder son also called Lawson, is perhaps
best known for his pigs, Dillon for his cats, Keza for her dogs.
Lawson Snr. though is famous for his ‘flat cows’. They are quirky,
appealing and unforgettable! Walter Awlson Over the last few years Walter has exhibited in many galleries throughout Britain and has established himself as one of the best known figurative sculptors. His work is collected by many in various countries. His Raku pieces are slightly different to those done by the Rudge family. He loves to use oxides on his pieces which give fantastic flashes of colour. The exciting thing is he never knows how the colouring will turn out until he opens the kiln door. For his stoneware pieces he creates a finish that is almost bronze like (for a fraction of the cost of real bronzes). Christine Cummings Christine trained in ceramics at Lancashire Polytechnic and her final show consisted of purely pig studies. The response from visitors was enthusiastic and her all work was sold. Christine has found plenty of source material in the rare breeds. The pigs are made from a mixture of crank-bodied and stoneware clays. Raku and smoke firing finishes naturally compliment the final pieces. If you would like more information about
