"To this day, I am still proud of my childhood friendship with Bob the Peacock who used to strut his regal stuff across my parents' garden as if he owned it.  I have no idea where he came from of where he was going, but for me his transient visits brought an unusual consolation.  Often, after my friend had disappeared, he would leave behind an occasional tail feather as a farewell present.  The colours in a peacock's tail feathers still take my breath away.  As a tribute to that prince among birds, I designed Millyford, a place from which, perhaps my errant peacock had escaped to enjoy a life of freedom in the New Forest wilderness around the village of Millyford Green where occasional sightings of wild peacocks have been reported."
