"If Amberslade has a design link with Millyford, so too does Emery Down.  My New Forest peacock could never have laid the Emery Down egg, but he might have known someone who did.  The New Forest has more than its fair share of stories to tell, not least Emery Down, a fascinating combination of remote forest tracks running through oakwood spinneys, beeches, pines, and colourful rolling heathlands.  For all I know, my peacock and his friends may have wandered across Emery Down as well as my mother's garden, but who knows?  For the record, however, I hope that my Emery Down egg does justice to the part of the New Forest from which it takes its name."
