Moorcroft Designers

RACHEL BISHOP

Rachel joined Moorcroft in 1993 aged 24 as only the fourth Moorcroft designer in 100 years. A true disciple of William Morris, and a designer whose work is collected world-wide, Rachel can produce work of unsurpassed brilliance. Her designs already command premium prices in the major salesrooms of the world. Rachel is exceptionally adept at designing limited editions. The popular range Fly Away Home, with its agapanthus and ladybirds is featured in Moorcroft's catalogue for another year, appealing to collectors of floral designs. Born to the job is how Rachel sees herself. Most would agree. 2009 sees the arrival of a new limited edition by Rachel, Burslem Legacy, together with two new ranges, Blue Ebro (her first fish design range in fifteen years) and Moonlight Sonata, a haunting landscape collection.

EMMA BOSSONS FRSA

In a career that started at Moorcroft at the tender age of 20, Emma’s work has fast become extraordinarily popular with collectors all over the world. Moorcroft’s youngest designer exploded onto the scene with her Hepatica range, the great Moorcroft success of 2000, and immediately followed this with Queen’s Choice, Moorcroft’s best seller for 2001. For 2002 Emma's Golden Jubilee design was judged to be of sufficiently high quality for the Queen to consent to the use of the Royal Cypher on the base of each piece in the collection. A string of successful limited editions endorse the phenomenal success of a young designer said by serious commentators to be the Moorcroft Design Studio member carrying the mantle of the art pottery’s founding father, William. Perennial favourite ranges Anemone Tribute and Sea Holly are still to be found in Moorcroft's design presentation.

KERRY GOODWIN

Kerry first started her career at Moorcroft as a painter in 2000. Impala was inspired by her visit to South African in November 2006, as the range features a herd of wild racing impala. A sense of movement is cleverly created by the African trees and grass, which appear to be bent backwards by the force of these charging animals, that stream past as they gallop through the savannah. For 2009, Kerry has created a plethora of designs for collectors worldwide including two new ranges, Daisy May and Pole to Pole, the latter of which features five different Arctic and Antarctic animals. Kerry has also created two new lamp ranges, Clara inspired by the work of Clara Driscoll at Tiffany's and La Famille, inspired by the art of Scottish designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. After an extremely busy year in 2008, Kerry also has seven limited editions in the 2009 catalogue featuring toucans, dragonflies, roses and even a lady subtly hidden in a tree, in the form of Wood Nymph.

NICOLA SLANEY

Nicola became famous as the designer who witnessed a sell-out in six weeks of her millennium 50-piece limited edition, Jerusalem, at a retail price of more than £11,000 for each piece. Another Nicola Slaney design, Anna Lily, a Moorcroft best-selling range, is still in the production today and has been freshened up with four new shapes this year. Nicola's reputation continues to grow by the year. For 2009 she has created Wandbord, a limited edition vase, inspired by the Dutch landscape and which includes a small windmill tucked away amongst the rolling hills. Satin Flower and Blackwell are two new ranges, the latter of which features five individual pieces, each inspired by the Arts and Crafts house set on a sloping hillside overlooking Lake Windermere. Completed in 1900, Blackwell is the largest and most important surviving example of the work of architect, Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, and the only one open to the public. The wealth of design detail to be found at this unique house inspired Nicola to create her Blackwell collection.
