Annual Year Coin
2009, Mountain Gorilla
by Fiona Bakewell
Edition size 50, diameter 48mm

Originality and creativity are key attributes of Elliot Hall Enamels, and the Bronze collection sees the ingenious addition of an enamel coin - a concept pioneered by Elliot and Tiffany.  A year coin will be launched annually to form a series featuring endangered animals with the first one portraying the sagacious Mountain Gorilla.  In her design Fiona has perfectly captured the expressive features and character of this increasingly rare species.  The back is engraved with the Elliot Hall Enamel logo and the year of issue.  The coin takes the name Vertis, the Roman name for the city of Worcester, and continues the company tradition of naming shapes after the topography of the county.
